Law and Morality is a subject common to various subjects but in particular Crime and English Legal System. Most students will find they study at an early stage the famous cases of R-v-Shaw (Ladies Directory) Knuller-v-DPP (Gay Contact Magazine) R-v-Brown ( D.I.Y. video by consenting sados). The full case reports are available from the English Legal System website. The Home Secretary is now suggesting returning to some of the standards prevailing before the changes in the “swinging sixties”. The series of films in this section attempt to give some background to the England of the 1960s and 1970s a time when Parliament was attempting to bring the law in line with current morality. The films included in this section are all well worth watching as important contributions to the ART OF CINEMAi n addition to their role in attempting to show law in its social context.
